I'm going to wash that dry shampoo right outta my hair.

How often do you wash your hair?  I wash mine every other day because if I go any longer than that I start to look like I style with Crisco.  So you can imagine my surprise when I discovered that there are women out there who go anywhere from 6 weeks to 3 months without shampooing.  I think there is only one thing to say to that:  KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS!  Okay, and a few other things such as:  How?  And Why?  And Gross!  They claim that if you rinse it regularly (like, ever few days or so) and use a dry shampoo or corn starch you can go indefinitely without washing.  I actually use the corn starch trick on my non-washing days and even then by the end of the day I could (as my dad puts it) butter toast with my hair.  I am completely mystified.

So gross! I wash my hair in the morning and I still don't feel like it's enough. My hair soaks up every smell around me, and since I take walks on my lunch breaks around ASU, you can only imagine what my hair smells like at the end of the day!

When I lived in the south, I learned that many of the women there would only wash their hair once a week or so. I thought it was crazy, but I started trying to wait a few days before I washed my hair. After a couple of weeks, I noticed that my hair was less greasy and flufflier. I still don't go more than a few days without washing my hair - but I think there is something to what they do.

actually I think you can train your hair to produce less oil if you wash less. It takes some time to let it adapt though. I am an every other day washer like you.

I am an every day to every other day washer, and the every other day is just when I'm feeling lazy. Part of this reason is that I can't brush through my hair wet unless it's been conditioned, and I really dislike the feeling of conditioner without soap, so I just wash it every time I make it to the shower. My question is, what's the cornstarch trick? Because I can also butter toast by the end of day 2.

You mean to say that these women who are at the gym and more than likely sweaty are not washing their hair afterwards? Disgusting!!!

Let me clarify...I know you didn't specifically say the gym, but most of all the random stories you produce about women comes from the gym. So, I assumed these were gym women. I'm still grossed out.

I have to wash every day because of my crazy curls. I need to condition every day or it's pretty much a rats nest. There is a woman I work with who I don't think washes her hair very much because when I walk by her desk it smells like dirty hair. You know the smell. It grosses me out.

Okay, don't hate me. I put off washing my hair as long as I possibly can. I don't think I could ever force myself to go 6 weeks (much less 3 months) but I probably wait longer than everyone who has commented so far.

It obviously depends on your hair, but (for me) I am 100% against daily washing. My hair is happier this way, and so am I.

I wash my hair 2 or 3 times a week. I usually go three days between washings, but have been known to go four and not bat an eye. My hair gets really dull and frizzy if I wash it everyday. I take this as a great blessing, as drying my hair takes FOREVER, where as just styling my hair takes like five minutes. (In this case "styling" can be read as "brushing". Or even sometime: "not brushing and just throwing it up in a bun/ponytail" as the case may be.)

Yikes, to the double yikes!! 6 weeks??? I am an every day girl myself. I do not own a shower cap and if it's going to get wet, it's going to get clean.

I wash my hair every other day. It was hard at first because it was just a grease ball. If you can hold out for a few weeks, your hair really does stop producing so much oil. I use dry shampoo on the days I don't wash it. Like when I get out of the shower after the gym. Spray it on...leave it on...brush it through. Works great. 6 weeks though? Gross.

Totally skeeved. What is this, ancient Egypt? Remind me never to hug another person unless I know their hair washing habits again. I wash every 2-3 days as well and I use the Wen Haircare System. Shameless plug.
