Lesson Learned

The girl ahead of me in line at the post office had flame tattoos running up her neck, a spiked cuff that looked like it came from Thunderdome and a beaded hoop dangling from that little flap of skin that connects your upper lip to your gums.

She turned around and said to me, "Oh wow, you look exhausted.  I was exhausted the other day because I had been up all night because my boyfriend left me. Just packed all his things and left me.  No note.  And this was after he stiffed me for two months of rent and ran up my electric bill to take care of his reptiles.  Lesson learned."

Don't you love the random, personal things perfect strangers will tell you?

I really hope this story is real. Also, what the H? Why was she telling you that you looked tired?

Em - I actually REALLY love it when strangers tell me random personal things. It makes my day.

Val - Not only is it true, it is abreviated. She went on for 5 minute telling me about how her dad was ready to kill him and how he wouldn't return her phone calls and she thinks he's shacking up with someone else. Who knows what's to come of his reptiles.

And I agree - what the H. Granted, I was actually quite tired, but I had mascara on and my usual cheery disposition. Who say's that?

How come you get to meet all the truly interesting people? Nobody ever reveals their inner secrets to me.

I think government buildings are always the best place to see weird people and have odd run-ins. But when it's you in a government building, people around you will be weirder and you will have even odder run-ins. Because you have a tendency to be around when really weird stuff goes down.

Also, I hate it when people tell me I look tired. As if I didn't already feel like crap. But at least for you it was followed by an interesting story.

I counted about 18 lessons, and I guarantee you none of them were learned.
