Recommendations

I have a few recommendations. You're welcome.

Lip balm: Smith's Minted Rose by the Rosebud Perfume Co. You know I'm picky about what goes on my lips. They're always chapped. Always. So I always have to have lip balm on me. Always. I start having heart palpitations if I discover that I don't have one in either my pocket or my purse. And they're large, which means I have to be careful with color because I don't want to look like a woman of easy virtues (thank you Don Quixote for that.) So lip stick is right out. And most gloss is out as well because if it's too shiny I look like a 1979 version of a woman of easy virtues. But I love a good tinted lip balm and this one is lovely. It's just the right shade of carefree fun-loving girl mixed with high moral standards that I'm looking for. And it smells a little exotic. Bonus. You can get it at Sephora.

Snacks: *The ones at Henry's. This is my new favorite grocery store, and I'm not ashamed to say it's because of the bulk snack section. They have dozens of really yummy moderately healthy snacks ready for you to fill a bag up with. I'm pretty sure that a bin full of chocolate covered honeycomb equals heaven. Andrea tells me that at her Henry's in the Hot and Angry Desert they have raspberry yogurt covered pretzels (Dear Henry's in Claremont, Please get raspberry yogurt covered pretzels. Love, Rachel). They have many other fine things at Henry's -- the produce is fantastic and the other bulk items like pasta and oatmeal are helpful and cheap -- but it's the snacks that put it over the top.

Guilty Pleasure TV: Robin Hood the series on BBC America. Katie and I have found ourselves addicted to it. We got it from Netflix because it has Richard Armitage in it. If you've seen North and South, which by now you should have, you will know exactly why we got it. And, lucky for us, it happens to be really entertaining. I realized the other day that it's kind of like the A-Team. Outlaws who are on a mission to help people and blow things up in the process. (Admit it, you loved the A-Team and would wait every week to see what sneaky method they would use to get BA on the plane again.) It's predictable, just like the A-Team, in that you know that at some point in the episode they are going to have to break into the castle to rescue someone and will narrowly escape being captured, but it's kind of witty and fun and adventurous. And have I mentioned it has Richard Armitage? Even as a bad guy with greasy hair the dreamboat factor is high.

* Hi! It's me, editing. What I meant to say was Sprouts. It's called Henry's in Chino Hills and Rancho Cucamonga but in Claremont it's Sprouts. I don't know why it's a different name. It's the exact same store.

I'm SO glad I'm not the only one who has palpitations about lip balm! I have at least 3 of them in my purse at all times. One on each night stand, my dresser, the bathroom counter, living room end table and two in my desk at work. It's very important to have one readily available at ALL times!

Medieval A-Team! That totally explains Robin Hood. Now I know why I like the show so much. I think one of my favorite parts is the BBC America disclaimer before the show that encourages use of closed captions because not even British people can understand the accents.

Actually the raspberry yogurt covered pretzels came from Sprouts but I've been disappointed lately because they haven't carried them for a while. They do carry peanut butter covered pretzels which I highly recommend and they started carrying cherry yogurt covered pretzels which I should try. Oh and now they have your cinnamon bears again, so I think you should come and we can make chocolate dipped cinnabears!

First: Yes to lip balm! And I also loved that phrase from Don Quixote. I wrote "woman of easy virtues" on a sticky note and put it on my computer so I wouldn't forget it (as I was planning on writing about it), but mid-way through the day realized that it's, perhaps, not the best phrase to have displayed in your work environment.

Second: where is Henry's? I've never heard of it. (Which is not really that surprising, is it?)

Third: Richard Armitage...I might have to put on North and South again..."Look back. Look back at me!"...sigh...

Yum! Richard Armitage and Henry's! I love the trail mix at Henry's that has the chocolate chips and craisins. I hate trail mix due to the raisin factor, but when you pull a switch-a-roo and make it craisins and then introduce the chocolate, you can't go wrong!

I love Henry's!! I go to the one near my house on Baseline and Daycreek for my Burt's Bees pomegranate replenishing lip balm (that is a daily necessity). They also have pretty good deals on fruit too. I bought strawberries (from Carlsbad) for $0.77 a lb. last week. Plus I love their lotion aisle and all of the "testers" there; I always leave that store a bit more fragrant.

Ooh, Robin Hood. Is season 2 out on DVD yet? Because Richard Armitage really is the best, greasiest, leather pants wearing Guy of Gisborne and he's just so complex in that show! I love him. He's evil. He's sad. He's evil. And I think I may watch North and South tonight. I don't think we have Henry's in Utah, but I really want some snacks now, too.

A couple of things:

1.) Henry's is also Sprouts. Sorry to confuse. I've clarified in the post.

2.) I'm glad I'm not the only one with a lip balm addiction.

3.) BBC America is showing series 2 of Robin Hood. We get it at 6 and 9 on Saturday night. They showed the first one last week. And it's not out on DVD yet.

4.) Richard Armitage is a dreamboat and if you haven't seen North and South yet, or just want to droll over him a bit more, we are having a viewing party a week from Friday. Let me know if you want to come.

5.) Liz, when you wrote, "Look back...Look back at me," I nearly burst into tears. Sigh.

Since no one else has said it yet, I will admit it...I loved the A-team and if I happen to come across re-runs of it (which I haven't) then I would watch it again. And don't even get me started on grocery stores that I love. It's an addiction I need to address.

ANNOUNCEMENT: I WENT TO SPROUTS YESTERDAY AND THEY HAD THE RASPBERRY YOGURT PRETZELS!!!

(Not in the bins, but above the bins in a little plastic container.)

And they are fantastic!

It's about time someone responds to one of my letters. Clearly, this blog is a force for good, and is, quite possibly, magical.
