Because the World's Largest Felt Collection is about to eat my apartment.

It's 100 degrees outside and what am I thinking of?  Christmas.  Why?  Because I miss eggnog.  And also because Camille recently reminded me of how harried I was last December, up to my eyeballs in felt, and felt, and more felt.  Oh, the felt.  And she suggested that I send out the word now that if you're interested in a Custom Made Felt Thingy I'm taking orders.

In the past I've done laptop covers:

stockings (Note, I also do regular old stockings with Christmas trees and carolers, if that's what you're looking for.)

pillow cases

book marks

and dinosaur cake toppers, which, I suppose could be used as stuffed animals for small children if you don't have a cake to put them on

Basically, just let me know what you want (rachelknecht at gmail dot com) and I'll get back to you on the details and prices and then dive into the World's Largest Felt Collection and make it happen. Because I love you and want you to be happy.  And because I don't want to be stitching felt until my fingers bleed on Christmas Eve.

Ho ho ho!

Can I just say, as owner of a fabulous stocking, that you all need one?

Because you do. Really. You do.

I keep mine up year-round and it has sparked one conversation after another.

Here's an example...

Home Teacher 1: "Is that a Michael Flatley, Lord of the Dance stocking?"

Me: "Yep! Isn't it fantastic?!"

HT1: "That's awesome!"

HT2: "Whose Michael Flatley?"

Me: "I'm glad you asked! Let me get my DVD..."

See!

Rachel's felt creations are not only wonderfully witty and well-crafted, but also conversationalist pieces of folk art!

And who doesn't want that?

Submit your requests now before it's too late!

P.S. Just so you don't think that the first comment which was deleted was some anti-felt rant by a hater, it was me. I spelled a word incorrectly, and that sort of thing bothers me.

I'm trying not to feel smug that half of those pieces are mine. Well, Gandalf's not mine, since that was a gift, but he was my IDEA, so you know. Obviously you know how I feel about your work. Fanatical would probably be the best way to describe it. And I will be ordering two more stockings this year, because apparently I am the type of person who gets a stocking for her dog. I just have to decide what I want on Alex's, because I feel it is important for it to be as awesome as Richard Simmons, and yet I feel that is IMPOSSIBLE. And also I want something with Dolly Parton on it, but obviously I will want that something for myself, and I already HAVE a stocking, and you can see how this is all a little overwhelming, yes?

I cannot wait until our secret project is featured on your blog. Not least because absolutely no one else will get it.

I'm thinking about some orders. Just give me a day or two, but I will be putting in some orders, to be sure. I think it's time for something with Wonder Woman on it, don't you?

I also am the proud owner (well, my husband is, actually) of a Galaga stocking and we LOVE it! When we took it out last year and hung it up, we both just giggled and smiled and talked about how brilliant you are!

When it comes to stockings, I have the same one that I've had since I was 2 years old. My Aunt Ruth knitted stockings for all of us back then and we still use them. The fabulous thing about these stockings is due to the very loose knit she used, they are incredibly stretchy. So...LOTS of room for Santa to stuff all those good things into. The felt isn't as roomy, but the pure fabulousness of them is making me want to get one to hang by Galaga's side. I just need to decide the subject matter.

You might have more orders than you actually want!!
