Hide your prescription meds

1.  Did anyone else watch Jeopardy! where the robot who is going to take over the world wiped the floor with the human contestants?  Okay, so it's not a robot...YET.  It's technically a super computer the size of a living room  But trust me, those nerds at IBM are working on getting it into fighting shape so it can steal old people's medicine.  The truth is, while I was rooting for the humans (Go Us!) I was really thinking, "That would be a pretty lame computer if it didn't cream them."

2.  Due to some church responsibilities I had a long list of people to call tonight and so I worked my way through about 6 and when I got to the 7th she asked, "How many more people do you have to call?"  and I said, "A lot"  and she said, "Do you want me to make those calls for you?"  And then I hugged her through the phone.  Because to someone with a phone phobia (Hi!) being offered that is like someone saying, "Here, have this sack of gold doubloons."

3.  I'm in a reading funk.  A funk, I say!  I've started and stopped no fewer than 5 books in the last 3 weeks because nothing is grabbing my attention.  Quick, someone please give me a book that will make me want to ditch work to finish it.

"The Name of the Wind" By Patrick Rothfuss. I seriously almost called into work everyday for a week until I finished it. Sleeping was a burden. Go get it now.

I just finished "The Evolution of Calpurnia Tate" and I thought it was good. I also really love the south.

"The Wednesday Wars". It's a quick read. You'll laugh, you'll cry...it's got baseball, ballet and Shakespeare all in the same book. Love it! (I put the ellipses in on purpose).

Louis Lamour! I've started reading one from Grandpa's collection and I'm loving it.

I'm reading "East of Eden". I've been greatly surprised by this book. I can't believe how much I'm enjoying it.

I wish I had a book to recommend, but I'm stuck reading Invisible Man (barf). I'm beginning to think I should have applied for a graduate math program. At least I wouldn't resent reading so much.
In my free time, I'm, as usual, reading through my Ramona collection.

I, for one, welcome our new robot masters.

I've got nothing. I wish I could shower you with book titles, but I'm kind of in a funk, too. Plus, I bought angry birds for my phone, and I've been neglecting my Nook. All I can think of is level 2-21.

Did Valerie make a Simpsons' reference? BWAHAHAHAHHHAHA-EXCELLENCE!

My books are things that no one reads. They're weird and typically nonfiction, which is usually no fun.

I just finished a 25 page paper for an egomaniacal instructor, so I'm going to read some quirky "attraction" books...and maybe some voodoo...j/k....maybe....

Good luck!

Just out of curiosity, have you read The New York Regional Mormon Singles Halloween Dance by Elna Baker, yet? I am curious to know what you thought, if you did.

There's another Emmy?

I've actually been working while I'm at work, to avoid reading LOTR. No other explanation required.
