This and That and Tyra

1.  We don't watch a lot of Wheel of Fortune around here but when we do Katie kills it.  She's a Wheel savant.  It will be a 15 word phrase and she'll get it with two letters up there.  I usually don't even have it by the time the contestants have bought all the vowels and they keep spinning to get more money.  So I felt pretty good about myself tonight when I got one before she did.  Woot!  But what I really felt great about was recognizing one of contestants as a very bit character from Gilmore Girls who's maybe been in like 10 scenes total.  And there she was spinning for cash.  So I'm a Gilmore Girls savant.

2.  After dinner I said, "I could use some chocolate cake right now," and Katie said, "There's a recipe for individual microwave chocolate cake in the Food Network Magazine," (which, for the record, is a great magazine.  Trust your friend.  You'll want to make every recipe.)  I am very suspicious of things being cooked in a microwave.  Warmed up in a microwave, sure.  But baked?  I don't know.  (I wonder if the folks in Days of Yore felt this way about the gas range.)  But a girl has got to take a few risks if she wants cake.  And ta-da!  It worked.  Chocolate cake in under 10 minutes.  Revolutionary!  It's more souffle-ish, and it could definitely use some whipped cream or frosting or chocolate sauce, and the recipe makes more that I could eat (can you believe that?), but who am I to complain about such speedy results?

3.  I'm reading Tyra Banks' book Modelland and it is the Capital of Crazytown.  I'm marking my favorite passages and I think I need to host a dramatic reading.  Who's interested?

1. Are you sure you can't squeeze YOU into the one of the magical flat rate boxes you speak of? 'Cause I'd sure like to have you arrive in the mail for a visit - I LOVE Gilmore Girls, but even more, I love the possibility we could watch some WofF and I could look smart.

2. Sounds familiar. Oh yeah, it is.

3. Get in the box and we can host it at my place, I'll serve (2).

Which GG character was it... that's all I care about. Oh and that now I want a chocolate microwave cake!!

I'll come to the dramatic reading if it's at Angela's. But I want all her recipes served at that get together! Get cooking Angela! haha

Here is what I do when I crave chocolate cake. I whip up a cake mix and then cook the batter in a waffle iron. Yummy chocolate waffles - usally topped with ice cream or strawberries and whipped cream. Since I dont want all the waffles sitting around for me to eat, I put wax paper between the waffles then put in a ziploc bag and into the freezer. Then when the chocolate cake attack comes again - pop one in toaster directly from the freezer and it is like hot cake out of the oven!

I'm curious as to who the Gilmore Girls character is too, please tell. Speaking of Gilmore Girls, did you know that the girl that played Lane was actually 27 years old when the show began. No joke! She's 38 now. Crazy, huh?

Tyra wrote a book? Who am I to be surprised about that. I guess I'm just waiting for her to build TyraLand next to Disneyland, though until she is asked to host the Emmys the expanse of her success will be measured only to herself.

You know I'd be front and center at a dramatic reading of Tyra if I could just get there. Nice job spotting a Gilmore Girls bit part. There are a lot of characters on that show. Chocolate cake sounds really divine right now. I think I'll try that waffle business Jeanette mentioned. It sounds like my kind of baking.

You do realize you'll have to wear the halftan, as well as fashioning yourself a new hat.
