The Passive Agressive Slam

I saw two excellent example of the passive aggressive slam:

1.) Last night on Jeopardy! the contestants came out looking a little dressed down. The girl (Who was an art history graduate student and got one of the art history questions wrong. Ouch.) was dressed in slacks and a sweater and the two guys were both in dockers and button down shirts, one with a tie, one without. Alex came out and said, "Had I known it was casual day I wouldn't have worn a suit." Burn! The guy in the tie won.

2.) I was loitering in one of the non-fiction aisles at the library this morning (Musicophilia by Oliver Sacks - he's my smarty-pants crush. What? I'm 80!) and some guy was sitting at one of the carrels yakking away on his cell phone. I see out of the corner of my eye a concerned senior citizen walk up to him and I hear him slam something down on the top shelf of the carrel then walk away. When I walked passed him I saw that it was a sign that read, "Keep it low." and it had a cell phone with a line through it. You tell him Old Guy!

Alex...oh Alex...

I have the book, Musicophilia by Dr. Sacks...I adore him as well...he writes the coolest stuff...and because I'm a brain geek, I almost worship him. But, here's a secret, being an Aspie allows me to indulge my geekiness. I don't know what your excuse is, but you're welcomed to join me in the spectrum. :)

I'm visualizing the international symbol for no cell phone...the circle with the line thru it...sometimes you just gotta love the Greatest Generation...

I love Alex Trebec. Even after he shaved off his mustache. Please do a review of Musicophilia on your other blog. It sounds like something I should have read in college, and might actually enjoy now.

Face! I don't know your age, I'm just looking at your blog for the first time (found you on Teachinfourth's challenge from a few days ago..), but in my youth, we used to say things like "FACE!" and "FACIAL!" instead of "burn". I don't even know what that means now. Silly aging lady, I am. I love the old guy in the library!

P.S. So thrilled about the windbreaker that I will soon receive! Thanks!

FabuLeslie - I also said "Face" back in the day. I'm also 80. And your windbreaker is coming in the mail. Along with the check for $1,000,000. I don't really advertise the cash but I like to reward people who take that leap of faith.

I didn't realize until I checked back at your blog that I had a passive/aggressive close encounter today....not long after you posted this....maybe it's something in the air....
