A Few Dears

Dear Pete,

I'm sending you off to Brooklyn to live with Valerie. She said that she'd take you to Coney Island and feed you a hot dog. Behave yourself. You're one lucky bird.

Love, Rachel

P.S. Don't tell the other birds, but you were my favorite.

Dear Woman Who Called Me This Morning to Complain about How Our District Took This Past Monday Off for MLK Day instead of Next Monday Which is the Actual MLK Day,

I don't know why we did it. I don't make that decision. Your kids are still going to be marked absent if they go to the MLK Day parade in LA instead of going to school. It doesn't make us racists. That's just how school works.

Best, Rachel

Dear Zit on my Chin,

If you get any bigger I'm going to have to start charging you rent and utilities.

Rachel

Does this mean that you sold Pete to Valerie A. in Brooklyn? Is this your first sale? I hope so. Congrats!!!

Yeah - a sale! I'm so excited. Maybe I'd better snatch up Edward since he's my favorite. I could take him out on dates and pretend that a guy actually wants to go out with me!

Rachel, you probably don't know this, but I am one of your most faithful readers. Thank you for always entertaining.

yeah, bronwyn has commented. Isn't Rachel fun? Yeah, we all agree.

Okay, not to go all "business manager" on you (although you know I do that any time we start talking about your incredible creations), but this is big news!

Do you have any information how Valerie found you? What did she use as her searching criteria? Maybe we could use her as a guide to get more buyers. And then, we could use that as a starting point, and.....

I'll stop.

Valerie found me oh, how old are you Valerie? Lindsay's age? So, about 27 years ago. We've been pals forever. She reads the blog and surprised me by buying Pete. So it was kind of a cheat but it certainly feels wonderful.

And I love it when you play business manager. You should keep doing it.
