Don and Leola

I'm in love with this picture of my grandparents.

I mean, look at them. They're just kids! I think this was when they were dating so she's probably 18 and he's 20. I love that he's taking the picture. I love that she's wearing a fabulous hat. I love that his eyes have a Hint of the Orient. He died when my mom was 4 so I never knew him but years ago when I realized that his eyes were like mine I felt an instant connection, like maybe when I finally get to meet him we could sit down and compare stories of all the times we were asked if we were Chinese. Oh, how we'll laugh and laugh.

OK... I love this picture...and I'm a little teary-eyed. Let's make a deal. I'll give you pictures of grandpa and his brother at the beach, and also the cool wedding picture of mom and dad if you give me a copy of this picture. Please, oh please. :)

That is an amazing picture! The hat, the sweet cute somewhat Asian-looking husband reaching for the camera, the fact that it looks like it belongs in an art gallery...Love it!

This photo is amazingly engaging. He looks kind and humorous and his mouth naturally smiles. I get this way when I think about people I've never met that I'm related to. There are a few of us like you and I.
